Matthew 17:19-20
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20 He said to them, “Because of your little faith Bible knowledge. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, study your bible more and learn more theological truth, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” (TSV, Traditional Standard Version)
Priceless.
How funny, I was just visiting our friend Mark’s blog where for some time now he’s been compiling some “translations” in the very same vein, he calls them Modern Church Translations, and they’re great. You’d probably enjoy them Lionel. They’re at:
mctbible.blogspot.com
Here’s a sample….
42 So Jesus called them together and said, “You know that in this world kings are tyrants, and officials lord it over the people beneath them.
43 But among you it should be quite different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,
44 and whoever wants to be first must be the slave of all.
45 For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many.”
- New Living Translation
42 So Jesus called them together and said, “You know that in this world kings are tyrants, and officials lord it over the people beneath them.
43 But among you it should be a little bit different. Whoever wants to be a tyrannical king, or controlling official in my church should not call themselves kings. Rather they should give themself a title like Pastor, Evangelist, or something else that sounds awe inspiring.
44 You can still live like a king because you will have a congregation full of subjects.
45 For I, the Son of Man, came here to give the clergy the power to subjegate others, so they each have their own kingdom.

Hey Daniel,
Thanks. Mark has been on the blogroll for a couple of months now. I got the idea from Alan Knox and realized that he was also doing them. He is much better at than me.
Thanks for the compliment Lionel. I really enjoy doing those. I still don’t think mine are any better though. I thoroughly enjoy reading yours. This one is great by the way.
I always have the same reaction to the ones you put up, the ones Alan puts up, and mine. I laugh a little at first. Then I feel bad because of just how true they are.
