Hebrews 9:1-3
9:1 Now even the first second covenant had has regulations for worship and an earthly place of holiness. 2 For a tent building was is prepared, the first section, in which were are the lampstand pews and the table and the bread of the Presence congregation. It is called the Holy Place. 3 Behind the second curtain up on the stage was is a second section Pulpit called the Most Holy Place, (TSV, Traditional Standard Version)
Brother Woods,
Just curious, (1) if I walk around on the floor instead of standing in the pulpit, (2) if I ask questions and let people actually respond right there during the preaching, and (3) if I have people share testimonies regarding various texts, am I less-disgusting to you than your typical full-blown behind-the-pulpit whooper?
Just curious because you share thought-provoking (and sometimes humorous) critiques of traditional pulpit ministry.
Hey SB,
1. If you dominated the meeting I would have a problem, it has nothing to do where you stand, though in our assembly environments the “pulpit” is a place of authority like many of my Reformed brothers would say.
2. Asking questions is good, that is a start, but that my friend is rare, and if you can list 20 guys (the most popular) in the SBC do they do that when they preach?
3. I don’t think I have used the word disgusting before. I will have to do a search on my post for that one. I don’t think I have ever called a “chrisitan” disgusting, maybe some false teachers but never a true blue believer. But again show me who is doing that. I will broaden the parameters give me the top 35 teachers today (you can give me the top 35 podcast if you like).
Let me know if that answers your questions SB. By the way I am elated that you continue to visit. Do you have a blog?
2. Heck no! I don’t know anyone who asks questions during the preaching. I think I am weird. 20 or 35? I can’t even name one. I will try to send you something I wrote on Mark Dever’s newsletter regarding the question of preaching as a dialogue vs. monologue.
3. Sorry brother, “disgusting” was my word.
Do I have a blog? Right now, life is too busy. However, I am edified by you, Thabiti, Carter, Q, and a few others when I can check in. Honestly, though, right now, you are my most regular visit cause you break it down “raw.” I like that.
SB,
1. That is my problem I think. Especially when Dever nem’ release this artcile:

I will actually teach uniquely this coming up Sunday thanks to Charity (my wife) and Alan Knox over at http://www.alanknox.net .
2. No problem, but I wouldn’t call anyone disgusting, trash or anything like that, I believe we can disagree, even passionately, without that.
3. To be mentioned in the same sentence as those gentleman is an honor that I don’t think I will ever deserve (and I playing the false humility game either). Though I disagree with some (well a lot) of what they may say as it relates to their ecclesiology they are holding it down for Jesus. And all three are very gifted men.
