Their ministry is actually set up only for the selling of his books and tapes/cds. A problem I see is that I have yet to notice a public rebuke/warning/denouncement from many of his contemporaries. 1. Moody Bible Institute/Moody Publishers - To my knowledge keeps inviting him to events, and hasn't denounced or recalled the "Totally Saved" book which does teach universalism. 2. John MacArthur - Is personal friends with the dude, dealt with the "transdispensationalism" subject at a Shepherd's Conference a couple years ago. He could denounce Rick Warren, and name him by name, but won't (or hasn't) gone public with Evans. 3. Chuck Swindoll - A lot of this heresy went on under his watch as president of DTS, but not a word about DTS's first black to graduate with a ThD. Whatever are differences may be in our theological construct (dispensational/ covenant theology or calvinist/arminian) these men and entities fall under the auspices of orthodoxy and won't name a name. I'm certainly not saying they won't. I'm not saying that they haven't spoken with him. I don't know. I know they have a relationship/friendship with the man, and if we see his departure, I know they know about it. I hope I'm wrong but they seem silent on Tony Evans' issues. That has been a big debate that I have had with many about a believer being cursed. This is a sad commentary when pastors preach this type of trope. Hold your stance brother i stand with you on this issue. Wow!!!!! That has been a big debate that I have had with many about a believer being cursed. He used a scripture reference to assure those that are saved are indeed eternally saved. Then he used another scripture to say that if they turn away from God and go back to their sinnin' ways they can fall from grace (which he said means they could lose their salvation)!!! Where's the assurance in that? Either we are saved because God pursued us and we believed and repented and therefore are eternally saved (despite any good or bad works we may perform) or we were never saved to begin with. But my understanding of the Word is that those who God has called and elected will be saved by grace through faith. Even if I "backslid" I would still be saved. Tony seems to be implying that we can be assured of our salvation if we perform well which sounds like a works based salvation that totally diminishes God's role in our salvation. That kind of salvation ain't salvation, folks!!! And if that's the kind of salvation you think you have then maybe you should be questioning your assurance!!! I used to listen to Tony a lot and have to give him some credit for teaching me some of the things I know to be true. But, recently I feel that something else is going on and I don't like it. If he made a mistake then man up and repent!!! I recently heard a series he did on assurance of salvation. He used a scripture reference to assure those that are saved are indeed eternally saved. I also share the same concerns as Lionel.........whats next? This clearly demonstrates how we must all strive to stay as close to Christ as we can. I wonder what Tony's devotional life and prayer life is like. He seems to be straying from the Orthodox. There is always a reason for this and it's either lack of devotion/prayer. Very sad indeed.
